Hi. My name is Dawn Roberts
15 years ago I was an avid keep-fit fan. 3 times a week I would push my son down to my local leisure centre in his pushchair, exercise like a nutter for 2 hours and then take the baby swimming. I loved my routine! In the next few years I had 2 more babies but kept up with my fitness activities as much as I could as it was the only thing that kept me sane!
I was very lucky that I had a wonderful Instructor. Her name was Val Whittington and she was such an inspiration to me that I decided I wanted to become an instructor myself. Val was very encouraging and told me to go for it. So go for it I did!
I gained my Exercise to Music qualification in 2002 and eventually began working in a gym. I went on to do further qualifications including Pilates, Fitness Testing, Gym Instructing and Advanced Gym Instructing. During this time I tried a 2 hour taster of Pole Dancing and was immediately hooked! I quickly bought my own pole and began practicing at home. When Fitness Wales introduced their Pole4Fitness qualification I was on the phone in a shot making sure I was on the first course! It was taught by the marvelous Clare from Pole4Fitness in Hull and I learned so much from her, not least that I wanted to be as graceful, fluid and strong as she was! I was soon teaching taster sessions to ladies who had never tried Pole Fitness before and I loved every minute of it!
Over the years I have taught many classes such as Aerobics, Cardiokickbox, Legs Bums and Tums and Fitball as well as doing Personal Training and Group Training. I have met so many fabulous women who have inspired me and some who have made me feel very humble indeed.
I love teaching in different environments and settings and so at the end of 2007 I decided it was time to go out on my own and use all the skills I had learned to show people how exercise needn't be boring and dull. I have always tried to make each of my sessions fun and interesting for the participants and really get a sense of achievement seeing my clients grow in confidence with their newfound skills. I have a real lust for life and am told this comes across in my teaching.
I love the fitness industry and if I can make just one person feel a little bit better about themselves then I have done my job.
Dawn
